PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium processing device capable of improving reliability.SOLUTION: An automatic teller machine includes: a paper money deposit/withdrawal section 16 that feeds paper money to a conveyance part 24 and collects the paper money conveyed from the conveyance part 24; a discrimination section 18 that is provided on the conveyance part 24 and discriminates a serial number as an identification character provided on the paper money; and a control section 12 that changes a conveyance destination of the paper money according to the identification/non-identification of the serial number on the paper money by the discrimination section 18. This configuration can sort unidentifiable paper money, the serial number of which cannot be identified, from identifiable paper money, the serial number of which can be identified. |
