PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alkoxyl derivative compounds and pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds, which are useful for treating neurodegenerative diseases and disorders, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Stargardt's disease.SOLUTION: For example, 3-amino-1-(3-(cyclohexylmethoxy)phenyl)propan-1-ol synthesized by three steps from 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde is further subjected to the steps specified in the figure for once protecting an amino group to form a compound 15, subsequently oxidizing an alcohol moiety to form a compound 16, and applying deprotection to obtain a desired alkoxyl derivative compound.
