PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of coping with reduction of battery characteristics due to decomposition of an electrolyte.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode containing a lithium manganese complex compound as a cathode active material, in which a lithium additive agent retaining lithium ions is added to the positive electrode, with the lithium ion additive agent being composed of a compound that is capable of releasing lithium ions at 0 V or higher relative to Li/Liand to which no lithium ion is inserted in a potential range of 3 to 5 V under a lithium ion release state.
