<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of a conventional volume reduction technique, more specifically to provide a method for reducing a volume of decontamination waste by which costs for volume reduction are suppressed and the decontamination waste is treated at an adequate reduction rate even in comparison to a conventional technique, and moreover the volume of the decontamination waste is efficiently reduced in a short period of time.SOLUTION: A method for reducing a volume of decontamination waste of the present invention is a method for performing volume reduction treatment of decontamination waste which contains organic matters as the main constituent. The method comprises: a composting step of primarily fermenting the decontamination waste; and an incineration step of incinerating the decontamination waste having passed through the composting step. Further, the composting step comprises: a depositing step; a sheet covering step; an air intake step; a stirring and mixing step; a state observation step; and a primary fermentation determination step. In the depositing step, the decontamination waste is piled up and deposited on a composting yard on which a water shielding sheet is laid. In the primary fermentation determination step, the decontamination waste is determined to be primarily fermented, on the basis of a result of measuring a state inside a covered body.</p> |
