PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element, a luminaire and a display device which achieve a high light emission efficiency by use of a phosphorescent compound, and are superior in durability.SOLUTION: A material for an organic electroluminescent element comprises a structure expressed by the following general formula (1). (In the general formula (1), rings α and &bgr; each represent an aromatic heterocyclic group originating from any of pyrrole, furan, thiophene, pyrazole, 1,2,3-triazole, 1,2,4-triazole, tetrazole, oxazole, isoxazole, oxadiazole, thiazole, isothiazole or thiadiazole, and are bonded at an appropriate position; R represents a hydrogen atom or substituent group which is substituted at an appropriate position of at least one of the rings α and &bgr;; and n represents an integer of 1-8.) |
