A glass plate which is formed by a float method of forming a molten glass raw material into a plate on a molten metal and which has a thickness of 1.6mm or less, wherein: when the surface that was brought into contact with the molten metal in the forming is taken as a first surface and the surface opposite to the first surface is taken as a second surface, a protective layer formed by dealkalization is present on at least the first surface; and the etching rate of the second surface is 2nm/min or less as determined at 50ºC by using a 0.1mass% hydrofluoric acid as an etchant.
