The present invention concerns a device and a method to make a non-communicating object communicating. The device comprises a processing module that offers a user interface capable of detecting an event on an area of the user interface, a control module for characterising the detected event, and a communication module for generating a message containing the characterisation information of the detected event and receiving a digital message containing information for triggering an action associated with said event. The device also comprises piezoelectric means coupled to the processing module capable of generating a mechanical vibration of the passive surface which transforms it into a sound wave in the sound transmission mode, or of producing a mechanical vibration from a sound wave in the sound reception mode.
