PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel ansa-metallocene structure for selective preparation of racemic complexes containing little meso-isomers.SOLUTION: A metallocene compound in which the 4 and 7 positions of the indenyl part have large aromatic substituents is prepared by a method of producing a practically 100-percent racemic isomer. A polymerization catalyst containing the metallocene enables production of a homopolymer of a high melting point and a high molar mass and a copolymer of a high molar mass with high productivity, when used as an ingredient of a supported catalyst under industrially appropriate polymerization conditions.
