A data transfer device is provided with a calculation unit and a compression processing unit. The calculation unit determines, on the basis of at least a compression performance parameter pertaining to a plurality of compression methods and a transfer performance parameter pertaining to a transfer process, a combination, from the plurality of compression methods and for optimizing an effective throughput, of a first compression method in which the speed of a compression process, as compared with the speed of a transfer process, constitutes a constraint on a data transfer, and a second compression method in which the speed of a transfer process, as compared with the speed of a compression process, constitutes a constraint on a data transfer. The compression processing unit uses the first compression method and/or the second compression method to compress the data to be processed. |
