PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device, image forming apparatus, and image reading method capable of normally reading a document image without reducing device performance even at the occurrence of dew condensation.SOLUTION: An AGC processing unit 304 sets a gain value of a signal amplifier 301 that amplifies an output signal of a light receiving element 310 constituting an image sensor 125 at a previously specified timing on the basis of a previously specified white reference target value and black reference target value, and white reference data acquired by a white reference data acquisition unit 302 and black reference data acquired by a black reference data acquisition unit 303. When a dew condensation elimination unit 306 executes dew condensation elimination operation, a gain correction unit 307 causes the white reference data acquisition unit 302 to newly acquire white reference data at a previously specified time interval, and sets the gain value of the signal amplifier 301 again with a correction value calculated on the basis of the newly acquired white reference data and the white reference data used by the AGC processing unit 304 for setting the gain value. |
