Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for assisting a terminal in performing measurement. The present invention relates to the technical field of communications networks, and can correctly measure the strength of a signal of a micro bases station and prevent the UE from wrongly determining the strength of the signal of the bases station. The method of an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first base station receiving a measurement result which is about a second base station and sent by a user equipment (UE), the first base station proving a service to the UE; the first base station determining, according to the measurement result, whether an automatic switching operation is required; and when the automatic switching operation is required, the first base station notifying the second base station to start up to make switching that the second base station provides a service to the UE. The solutions provided in the embodiments of the present invention are suitable for assisting a terminal in performing measurement. |
