According to the present invention, a hydrate of 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylaceton can be produced by a method comprising: a first step of reacting a 3,3,3-trifluoropropenyl metal with a trifluoroacetate ester to produce a reaction mixture containing 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-3-penty-2-none or an equivalent compound thereof; and a second step of bringing the reaction mixture obtained in the first step into contact with water in the presence of an acid. 1,1,1,5,5,5-Hexafluoroacetylacetone can be produced by dehydrating the hydrate. Thus, the production method according to the present invention can be employed industrially.
