Provided is an in-wheel motor unit for vehicles, that is capable of ensuring both vehicle mountability and displacement absorption performance. The in-wheel motor unit for vehicles is characterized by a displacement absorption mechanism (B) that has a drive output shaft (10) from a drive unit main body (A) and a wheel hub shaft (70) supported by a hub bearing (71), having: an output shaft-side drive transmission and fitting section (58) wherein a first inner teeth section (56) for the drive output shaft (10) and a first outer teeth section (52) for a gear coupling shaft (50) mesh; and a hub shaft-side drive transmission and fitting section (59) wherein a second inner teeth section (57) of the wheel hub shaft (70) and a second outer teeth section (54) of the gear coupling shaft (50) mesh. The in-wheel motor unit for vehicles is also characterized by the second outer teeth section (54) of the gear coupling shaft (50) in the displacement absorption mechanism (B) being arranged further on the vehicle outer side, in the shaft direction, than a wheel attachment surface (70g) of the wheel hub shaft (70).
