A portable terminal and a method controlling a keypad thereof are provided to display a keypad image including a transmission area, thereby reducing temporal chaos by preventing overlap of an application screen and a keypad image. Entering a character input mode is performed on a wireless internet screen(S101). A controller transparently processes a corresponding area corresponding to a character input window of the keypad image when a user touches a specific function key allocated to perform a keypad displaying/hiding function in the character input mode(S103,S105). A display module displays the processed keypad image in the foreground of the wireless internet screen(S107). |
