[Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] In a magneto for use in telephone or other electrical signalling systems, the rotor is supported between fixed centres and a single ball is inserted between each end of the rotor spindle and the machine frame for the purpose of reducing resistance to rotation. One of the armature bearings 15 is adjustable in a screwed housing 10 in the end plate 2 and the other 13 is fixed in the end plate 3, both having cavities 33 for lubricant. The armature 16 carries at one end a bearing projection 17 and at the other end has a central spigot 18 drilled for the passage of a screwed extension 19a of a bearing projection 19 which serves to clamp a pinion 12. Each bearing projection is provided with a cup, the rim of which is spun over to receive a ball 30 engaging in a conical depression in the bearings 13, 15.
