The present invention relates primarily to composites, in particular to fibre composite materials and (composite) coatings, as well as to coating materials which, in addition to a matrix material and/or one or more binding agents, comprise a plurality of microcapsules which, in turn, each have an enveloping material and active substances contained therein and/or consist thereof, the enveloping material of the microcapsules comprising a cell wall and/or a cell membrane or consisting thereof, and being at least partially covalently bonded to the matrix material.
