An annular ball valve seat 24 includes an annular spring 38 which biases the annular ball valve seat axially. The annular ball valve seat has a main body section 32, a lip section 48 extending from the main body section 32, and a seat groove 36 between the main body section and the lip section which contains the spring 38. A first leg 44 of the annular spring biases the lip section 48 in a first axial direction against a valve body and a second leg 42 of the annular spring 38 biases the main body section in a second opposite axial direction against a ball member. The annular ball valve seat 24 is disposed either side of a ball valve. This design of annular ball valve seat enables pressure within a body cavity of the ball valve to be self-relieving. |
