[Class 140] [Also in Group XV] A method of applying flock to a knitted or woven fabric comprises applying to one face of the fabric a, liquid adhesive thin enough partially to penetrate the fabric, dispersing thereon flock consisting of filaments of substantial length, stretching the fabric, subjecting it to slow beating, allowing the fabric to contract, and drying the adhesive. Alternatively the fabric may be stretched prior to application of the adhesive or after application of the adhesive but prior to flocking. The flock may consist of cotton, wool, silk, rayon, flax, jute, or hair and may be applied in the form of a design. Suitable adhesives include casein, glue, rubber cement, and rubber dispersions such as latex. Flock of more than one colour may be used, drying preceding each separate application. The base material may comprise a plurality of layers, for example, a double woven fabric. |
