[Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A one-piece cylindrical cage for spacing the rollers of a bearing comprises a series of spacing bars 7 integrally connected at each end to inner or outer disposed rings 9, the slots between the bars extending the full length of the cage. The cage may hold a number of rows of rollers, and means such as described in Specification 410,891 may be employed to retain the rollers in position. The cage is made by forming a cylindrical sleeve of material substantially U-shape in longitudinal crosssection and then cutting away the material, at intervals, between the flanges 5 by a milling, hobbing, slotting or broaching operation as shown in Fig. 2. |
