PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television camera device transmission cable status display method which, when a camera head unit and a CCU are connected with transmission cable, automatically recognizes the cable length of a connected transmission cable to display the transmission cable status. SOLUTION: When power is turned on, the cable length of a transmission cable and an attenuation therein at the time of commercial run are calculated from STBY use transmit data with a lower transmission rate than a transmission rate at the time of commercial run which is transmitted from a CCU to a camera head unit and returned transmit data of the transmit data sent from the camera head unit. Then the diameter of the transmission cable is calculated from the calculated cable length and attenuation at the time of commercial run, and a maximum permissible cable length is calculated from the calculated transmission cable diameter and attenuation at the time of commercial run, the calculated commercial run frequency attenuation, transmission cable diameter and maximum permissible cable length being displayed on one display screen.
