发明名称 Improvements in or relating to the collection of gases from artificial silk and the like
摘要 509,981. Artificial silk etc.; dyeing &c. apparatus. UFNOWSKI, W. Nov. 25, 1938, No. 34319. [Classes 2 (ii) and 15 (i)] Gases such as carbon disulphide and hydrogen sulphide, are removed from artificial silk threads, hanks, bobbins, staple fibre, regenerated cellulose foils, or the like obtained from viscose and similar substances, by passing the materials continuously through a water-filled tank under a bell-cover the margin of which dips below the surface of the water. The water is heated so as to promote evolution of gases from the materials and the gases are collected under the bell cover and then led away under their own pressure and are subsequently condensed. The materials are forwarded through the tank by passing them over rollers, or by moving them while supported on plates or tables, or by constraining them to pass along a passage with perforated walls. Premature evolution of gases before arrival of the material beneath the bell is avoided by supplying cold water at the end of the tank where the material enters. Means for heating the water after its arrival under the bell mav be provided. As shown in Fig. 1, artificial silk threads 13 pass into the tank 12 and under the hood 20 and are guided by rollers 16. Water of low temperature is introduced into the tank from pipe 23 at the place of entry of the threads and is guided between partitions 17. The water underneath the hood is heated by direct steam or hot water from pipe 18 to a temperature above 30‹C. so as to produce evolution of gases from the threads. The gases collect under the hood 20 and are guided under their own pressure through pipe 21, without being mixed with air, to a condenser where the carbon disulphide is collected. The residual hydrogen sulphide may be converted into sulphuric acid, oxidized to sulphur, or neutralized with waste lye. The tank is provided with an overflow 19. The hood 20 may be integral with the'tank 12 or it may be separate and capable of being raised, e.g., by weights 25 and pulleys 24. As shown in Fig. 4, the artificial silk to be treated is wound on bobbins which are placed on plates or tables 16<1> which may be secured to a belt conveyer. As shown in Fig. 7, viscose staple fibres are passed through the tank 12<11> between perforated partitions 16<11> either or both of which may be associated with a belt conveyer.
