[Class 146 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] A combined suit case and portfolio comprises two halves 1, 2 hinged together and each closed by a pair of flaps 13, 14 and 15, 16 respectively secured by tongues 21 passing through loops 19 secured on the lower flaps 14, 16, such flaps carrying pockets on their inner surfaces. A portfolio 17, or portfolios which may be secured by sliding clasp fasteners 34 is or are secured between the halves 1, 2 by straps 31 passing through loops 33 on the portfolio and secured by buckles, press studs, etc.; alternatively, the portfolios may be clamped in the hinge or may be positioned loosely between the halves 1, 2. The case is closed by slidable bolts which engage latches in casings 27, such casings carrying the handle 12. This handle may alternatively be in two parts, each carried by one of the containers 1, 2. The latches may be replaced by press studs, with which the handle engages by means of stirrups. |
