<p>A user equipment 10 is handed over from a first radio access network to a second radio access network coupled to a mobility controller, e.g. MSC 14, and having an association with the first radio access network. The user equipment 10 communicates with a session transfer controller, e.g. I/S-CSCF 28 and SCC AS 30, using the first and second radio access networks. A message is received at the session transfer controller 28, 30 indicating that handover of the user equipment 10 to the second network has been requested. A communication, originated at the user equipment 10, is received at the session transfer controller 28, 30 via the first network indicating a change in status of a call. In response to the message and communication, a message is sent to the mobility controller 14 indicating that the call may be dropped. Dropping the call in such situations will avoid situations in which finite state machines in the UE 10 and the MSC 14 are not synchronised, which could lead to a race condition in which operation of the network is not well controlled.</p> |
