<p>The method involves communicating a microcontroller (2) with a debugger (4) by a data stream. The data stream is serialized for transmission by a serial data transmission connection (14). The serialized data stream is de-serialized by the connection after the transmission. A microcontroller or a debugger is communicated in a device-specific data stream format and the data stream is converted to a predetermined format.
