A SPECT detector system includes a plurality of detector units. Each detector unit includes a plurality of detector elements disposed in fixed positions with respect to one another. The detector units are adjustably positioned with respect to one another around a detector arc, which is placed adjacent to a patient.

1. A SPECT detector system comprising:
a plurality of detector units, each detector unit comprising a plurality of detector elements disposed in fixed positions with respect to one another, wherein each pair of detector units is separated by a gap; and a plurality of hinge elements, each hinge element spanning a respective gap to interconnect a respective pair of detector units such that the interconnected detector units are capable of pivoting with respect to one another about the respective hinge element.
