1. An inkjet recording apparatus comprising:
a platen for supporting a recording medium at a position opposed to a recording head; a suction generating unit configured to provide suction that holds the recording medium to the platen; a first recessed portion provided on the platen; and a second recessed portion provided on the platen, wherein the first recessed portion and the second recessed portion are connected to the suction generating unit, wherein the first recessed portion has a first portion that is provided at a position that extends across and entirely occupies a recordable region of the recording head in a conveyance direction of the recording medium, and has a second portion that does not face the recording head, wherein the second recessed portion is provided at a position entirely occupying the recordable region of the recording head in the conveyance direction of the recording medium, and the second recessed portion does not have a portion that does not face the recording head.
