[Class 141] The top portion of a turn-down collar is provided at or near the ends thereof with fabric parts which have a greater shrinkage value than the other parts of the collar top so that when the latter is moistened .differential shrinkage occurs, and the collar points tend to turn inwardly. In the form shown, a strip of tape 18 of relatively greater shrinkage value than the fabric of the collar plies is stitched to each end of the bottom ply 13 of the top portion of a multi-ply collar preferably of the fused type. In a modification, the fabric strips may be disposed in the inturned ends of the upper and lower.plies of the collar top or on the external surface of the lower ply. In another modification, the fabric strips may be located in the seamed longitudinal edge of the collar top or elsewhere in the neighbourhood of the collar points. - |
