[Class 99 (i)] A suction or blowing tube 18 is connected to a vacuum cleaner casing 12 by a bayonet joint comprising a sleeve 20 mounted on the tube and having projections 22 which all passed through slots 15 in an opening in the casing and after rotation engage grooves 17, the projections being held in the groove by a spring ring 25 located within a resilient packing ring 24 which makes an airtight joint between the tube and the casing. The spring ring 25 may be formed from a flat annular disc by stamping to produce circumferentially extending tongues which are bent out of the plane of the disc ; alternatively, the spring may be in two parts or in the form of a spiral. The sleeve 20 may be rotatable with respect to the tube. Alternatively, the ring 24 and spring ring 25 may be located in the casing itself. |
