The present invention relates to a thermally activated reserve type battery containing impregnated lithium metal foam and a preparing method thereof and, more specifically, a thermally activated reserve type battery containing impregnated lithium metal foam and a preparing method thereof, wherein lithium with excellent capacity and output property is impregnated to metal foam, which is a negative electrode supporting body, to be used as a negative electrode for a thermal battery used at high temperature and the lithium is used as a negative electrode of the thermally activated reserve type battery, which increase energy density and a high output property.
