An apparatus for detecting leakage metal and insulation using an induction melting furnace according to the present invention includes: an input transformer to transform power input from a predetermined high frequency power supply into proper voltage; an air circuit breaker (ACB) panel to receive the voltage transformed by the input transformer and to protect a converter from short current caused in the opening/closing of a circuit or in the short of the circuit; an AC-DC converter connected with a rear end of the ACB panel to convert the AC power into DC power; a first current detector interposed between the ACB panel and the AC-DC converter to detect the leakage current of an input terminal; a DC-AC inverter to convert DC power supplied from the AC-DC converter into single-phase AC voltage usable in an induction coil; first and second molten metals to apply AC voltage output from the DC-AC inverter to an induction coil wound around an outer circumference of a crucible; second and third current detectors connected with lower portions of the first and second molten metals, respectively, to detect leakage current; a leakage metal detector to receive the leakage current detected by the first current detector, the second current detector, and the third current detector to compare the current of the received leakage current with a reference voltage (Vref); and a main control board connected with the rear end of the leakage metal detector to control an induction melting furnace. The operation of an induction melting system can be stopped by detecting, in advance, the explosion accident that may occur as the internal high-temperature liquid-phase metal of the induction melting furnace makes contact with a water-cooled induction coil, so that the induction melting system can be safely operated. |
