Disclosed are an energy management system and method using occupant sensors. The energy management system using occupant sensors comprises a plurality of occupant sensors connected in parallel and sensing whether a person is in an indoor area; an ON/OFF controller turning on a lighting facility or an air-conditioning/heating facility when at least one occupant sensor, among the occupant sensors, senses that a person is present, turning off the lighting facility or the air-conditioning/heating facility when all of the occupant sensors sense that a person is not present, and transmitting the sensing value of the occupant sensor and an ON/OFF value of the lighting facility and the air-conditioning/heating facility; a relay receiving the sensing value and the ON/OFF value from the ON/OFF controller and transmitting the same via an RS485 communications cable; and a server monitoring an operational state of the occupant sensors, the lighting facility and the air-conditioning/heating facility upon receiving the sensing value and the ON/OFF value from the relay via the via an RS485 communications cable, and remotely controlling the occupant sensors and the ON/OFF controller. According to the energy management system and method using occupant sensors, by sensing whether a person is present by using the occupant sensors and controlling an operation of the lighting facility and the air-conditioning/heating facility, energy of buildings, business facilities, and schools, and the like, can be effectively managed. |
