[Class 100 (iv)] Letter-spacing mechanisin ; line-locking devices. -A universal bar 9 connected to a frame 1 which is supported by pivoted arms 4, 5 for horizontal movement and has an extension 10 for releasing the letter-spacing device, is returned to normal position by springs 12 connected to the arm 5 above and below its pivot 5b. The springs are attached to a hard-metal plate 13 let into the arm 5, a surface 13b on the platebeing engaged by a cam 14a for locking the frame 1 at the end of a line. |
