The present invention relates to a continuously variable transmission that can start a vehicle at a second-speed (high-speed region) gear of an auxiliary transmission (40) in view of manipulation of a shift lever (100) in a manual mode (105) of a driver when the vehicle stops on a snowy road or a slippery road, and APS and speed, thereby preventing wheel slip on a road surface at initial start of the vehicle, and a shifting method at start after stop of a vehicle having the continuously variable transmission. The shifting method includes a shift lever recognizing step of recognizing whether the shift lever (100) is positioned at a first-speed gear or a second-speed gear of the P-R-N-D manual mode (105) when the vehicle stops, and a start mode changing step of starting the vehicle in the first-speed gear in a case where the start condition of the vehicle is the first-speed gear position, while starting the vehicle in the second-speed gear which is relatively higher that the first-speed gear in a case where the start condition of the vehicle is the second-speed gear position. |
