Disclosed are a preparation method and device for segments of a stream media in the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes: determining at least one quality point, the at least one quality point is respectively used for denoting the quality of at least one objective segment of the stream media in the first period of time; determining at least one objective segment of the stream media in the first period of time according to the at least one quality point. In the embodiments of the present invention, the segments of the stream media are prepared by considering a quality factor of the stream media segments, therefore, the problem of redundancy segments which are produced by preparing the segments of the stream media according to a code rate is resolved; and the storage of a server is reduced. |
