Provided are a method and device for downlink data transmission and transmission processing in the present invention. The transmission method includes: obtaining trigger information for triggering the application of a designated transmission mode; and according to the trigger information, transmitting the downlink data in the transmission mode corresponding to the trigger information. By adopting the technical solution provided in the present invention, the technical problems that data transmission reliability is not high in a communication system with special cover demand have been solved in related art, thereby it is guaranteed that the data information of a base station side can be received correctly by a terminal device in a low cover environment and the terminal device can communicate normally in the environment.
