<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methods for mitigating lensing and scattering when an optical fiber is being inscribed with a grating.SOLUTION: A vessel 22 for holding a refractive index-matching material 20a has a passage for an optical fiber 14, which is shown here as a multi-core fiber 14, to allow the optical fiber 14 to be surrounded by the refractive index-matching material 20a when the optical fiber 14 is situated in the passage. Therefore, any actinic radiation 24 that passes through the optical fiber 14 necessarily passes through the refractive index-matching material 20a. To the extent that the refractive index-matching material 20a has the same refraction index as the optical fiber 14, the actinic radiation 24 experiences no refraction at a boundary between the optical fiber 14 and the refractive index-matching material 20a.</p> |
