Disclosed are a proximity indication (PI) reporting method and system, a UE, and a network device. The method comprises: a UE receiving a PI information request from a network side; and the UE reporting corresponding PI information in accordance with the PI information request. Based on the solution, under a complicated small cell network environment, for various cell types, the embodiments of the present invention can realize targeted reporting of PI information through the control of the network side, reduce unnecessary information reporting and resource waste on an air interface, and enable the network side to effectively use the PI information reported by the UE to realize the optimization processing of discovery and handover judgment of a small cell, and the like, so that the accuracy and the effectiveness of reporting the PI information are higher and the improvement of network performance is facilitated. |
