An electric motor is disposed, further upward than a motor-output-side reduction gear, in a position in which a motor axis (Om) is upwardly offset from a wheel rotational axis (Ow). The electric motor is also slanted by an angle (θ) such that the motor axis (Om) gets higher with respect to the wheel rotational axis (Ow) as said motor axis (Om) extends inwardly in a wheel width direction. As a result of the upward and slanted arrangement of the electric motor, an in-wheel motor drive unit (1) does not interfere, even when at wheel maximum rebound, with a lower arm (7) which is used for large turn steering, and which is disposed just below said in-wheel motor drive unit (1).
|
