CUTTING MACHINE, CUTTING METHOD, AND CHUTE

A cutting machine is provided with: a saw blade for cutting a workpiece; and a chute provided below the cutting position at which the workpiece is cut by the saw blade and discharging an object to be discharged, which is originated from the workpiece, along a sloped surface. The chute has: a stationary member provided in the vicinity of the cutting position; and a pivotable flap provided on the opposite side of the stationary member from the cutting position. The stationary member has an upper surface which slopes downward at a first angle. The flap can pivot between a closed position at which the upper surface of the flap is substantially horizontal and an open position at which the upper surface slopes downward at a second angle (> first angle). A first mode which sets the flap to the open position at least when cutting is completed and a second mode which causes the flap to pivot from the closed position to the open position after the cutting is completed are selectively executed according to the length of the object to be discharged. The cutting machine can discharge in a short takt time, an object to be discharged, the discharge being performed without causing problems in the object to be discharged and in the saw blade.
