PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conducting agent for a lithium ion secondary battery arranged so that just a small amount of the conducting agent added can largely improve a large-current discharge characteristic.SOLUTION: Carbon black for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises primary particles having an average particle diameter of 20 nm or smaller, and no more than 0.20% of volatile components. A composition for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises the carbon black for a lithium ion secondary battery, and an active material whose cumulative 50%-particle size d50 in a particle size distribution is 3-20 μm. It is preferable that the active material is a lithium-containing transition metal oxide which includes any of cobalt and manganese. The active material is preferably LiCoO, LiNiMnCoO, or LiMnO. |
