<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of the image quality.SOLUTION: A tap selection section selects a pixel as a prediction tap, which is used for prediction operation to calculate a pixel value of a target pixel in a second image which is a converted first image, from the first image. A class classification section classifies the target pixel into any class in plural classes according to a predetermined rule. An operation section calculates a pixel value of the target pixel by performing a prediction operation using a tap coefficient of the target pixel class and a prediction tap of the target pixel. A dynamic range detection section detects a piece of dynamic range information which represents a local dynamic range of a position of the first image corresponding to the target pixel. A tap selection section updates the tap number which is the number of the pixels as the prediction taps according to the dynamic range information. The present art is applicable to, for example, the case when image conversion processing to give sharpness to images etc.</p> |
