The present invention provides compositions, systems and methods for demulsifying an emulsion including an aqueous phase and an organic phase by adding an effective amount of a composition comprising at least one quaternary organopolysiloxane or salt thereof to the emulsion, the composition optionally including at least one of quaternary epihalohydrin/polyamine copolymers or salts, and/or (poly)diallyldimethylammonium halides.

A composition for demulsifying an emulsion comprising an aqueous phase and an organic phase, the composition comprising at least one quaternary organopolysiloxane or salt thereof in an amount effective to at least partially separate the aqueous phase from the organic phase, wherein the emulsion comprises one or more components selected from the group consisting of bioproducts, microorganisms, enzymes, proteins, lipids, vitamins, carbohydrates, fats, amino acids and mixtures thereof.
