This electronic clinical thermometer is provided with a detector for detecting an angle of the electronic clinical thermometer with respect to the direction of gravity. During execution of body-temperature-measurement processing, an angle detected by the detector is compared with a first angle to determine whether the orientation of the electronic clinical thermometer is unsuitable, and a notification that the orientation of the electronic clinical thermometer is unsuitable is issued in accordance with a determination result.
