PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct distortion of a virtual image projected on a windshield glass pane.SOLUTION: A vehicle display device 10 has a display device 30 and an optical device 40 for generating a virtual image for a user 60. In order to display the virtual image with reduced distortion after running through the optical deice 40, image information is distorted using correction means. The optical device 40 has at least one element which can be adjusted in order to change the position of the virtual image. The distortion is provided as a function of the adjustment of the adjustable element 47. The vehicle display device 10 has a memory device for storing correction data which determines the distortion of the correction means as a function of the selected adjustment of the adjustable element 47.
