PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner in which transfer of vibration of a rotating polygon motor to a housing and resonant vibration are suppressed as much as possible, and an image forming apparatus including the same.SOLUTION: A housing 80 comprises: a laser diode 81; a polygon motor 71; a polygon mirror 72; and an f&thetas; lens 85. The polygon motor 71 causes the polygon mirror 72 to rotate about a shaft portion 71S. The polygon mirror 72 deflects light applied to the peripheral face and scans a photoreceptor drum 121 with the light. In the top view of the housing 80, the f&thetas; lens 85 is arranged inside a profile line PL formed by successively connecting adjacent fixing parts of the housing 80 to each other with a straight line. A bearing part FP of the polygon motor 71 is arranged on the profile line PL.
