PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for drying particles, and provide pharmaceutical formulations for pulmonary delivery comprising diketopiperazine-insulin (DPK-insulin) particles using the methods.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method of preparing a dry powder medicament comprising the steps of: (a) providing a solution of diketopiperazine; (b) forming particles of diketopiperazine; and (c) removing solvent by spray drying to obtain a dry powder.
