<p>There is disclosed a system for receiving, storing and generating electrical energy from an electrical energy source comprising: a motion generating device in electrical communication with the electrical energy source; and a flywheel mechanically connected to the motion generating device so as to rotate under action of the motion generating device so as to selectively receive and discharge kinetic energy; wherein the flywheel is controllable to vary a moment of inertia thereof such that by increasing the moment of inertia of the flywheel, the flywheel stores energy from the electrical energy source in the form of kinetic energy and by decreasing the moment of inertia of the flywheel, the flywheel releases energy to the electrical energy source in the form of electrical energy.</p> |
