1. A method for polymerase chain reaction (PCR), comprising:
(a) providing a microplate comprising:
(i) a substrate formed of a material that is susceptible to heating PCR samples upon the application of an electromagnetic field and/or electromagnetic energy to said substrate;(ii) a barrier layer disposed adjacent to the substrate, wherein the barrier layer is formed of a first polymeric material; and(iii) a moulding sealed to the barrier layer, wherein the moulding is formed of a second polymeric material, and wherein the moulding comprises one or more wells for holding PCR samples, wherein the one or more wells are formed of a second polymeric material sealed to the barrier layer; and (b) providing a PCR samples in said one or more wells; and (c) directing an electromagnetic field and/or electromagnetic energy to said substrate, thereby inducing heating in said PCR samples at a heating rate of at least 5° C./second. |
