A guide wire (1) comprises a flexible wire main body (11), a distal end member (4) which is fixed to a distal end of the wire main body (11), and a tubular member (5) which is disposed proximal to the distal end member (4) and on the periphery of the wire main body. The tubular member (5) is non-fixedly provided with respect to the wire main body (11) along the whole length thereof in a longitudinal direction. Additionally, the distal end of the tubular member (5) is non-fixedly provided with respect to the distal end member (4), and a base end side reduced wall thickness part (53) which has a tube wall thickness that tapers toward the base end side is provided on a base end of the tubular member (5). |
