Provided are a positioning system for positioning a block mounted on a floating dock and a positioning method thereof. The positioning system for positioning a block mounted on a floating dock according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first positioning means installed outside a floating dock and positioning multiple first measuring locations positioned in the floating dock; a second positioning means installed at the floating dock and positioning multiple first measuring locations positioned in the floating dock, multiple second measuring locations of the floating dock, and multiple third measuring locations of a block mounted on the floating dock; and a control unit matching the relative coordinates system of the second positioning means against the absolute coordinates system of the floating dock based on the location data of the first measuring locations positioned by the first positioning means, the location data of the first measuring locations positioned by the second positioning means, and the location data of the second positioning means.
